Roads within Nocatee with a posted speed limit of 25 mph or less and designated golf cart multi-use paths with signage have been approved for use by electric golf carts.


Key Points of St. Johns County and Duval County Golf Cart Ordinances include:

Drivers must be at least 14 years old and have in his or her possession either a valid driver's license or photo ID. (Now consistent with Florida Statute)

Carts may not be operated in a reckless or careless manner.

Carts should yield to pedestrians and bicycles at all times.

All carts must have a horn or other warning device. (New requirement)

Carts operated at night must have headlights, brake lights, turn signals and
windshield.

Carts may only be operated between the hours of 11:00 pm and 6:00 am by
persons holding a valid driver's license.


  • These provisions will be enforced by the St. Johns County Sheriff or County Code Enforcement Officers and may include a fine not to exceed $500.
