Nocatee Manager Named to Waterpark Hall of FameBack to News

Lee Hovis, Operations Manager for the Nocatee Splash Waterpark was inducted into the World Waterpark Association's Hall of Fame at this year's Symposium & Trade Show.  More than 1,500 waterpark owners, operators, developers, suppliers, designers and industry legends came together at the world's largest gathering of water-leisure professionals & development experts in New Orleans the week of October 3rd.

Hovis began his Waterpark career in 1984 at Water Country USA in Williamsburg, Virginia while still attending College.  He is a graduate of East Tennessee State University.

Hovis has held management positions at Emerald Pointe in Greensboro, North Carolina, Niagara Splash in Niagara Falls, New York, Summer Waves on Jekyll Island, Georgia, Adventure Landing in Jacksonville Beach and Daytona Beach, Florida, Surfside Waterpark, Auburn, Alabama, Roaring Springs in Meridian, Idaho and now Nocatee Splash in Ponte Vedra.

Lee's passion and commitment for the aquatic industry runs very deep as he has served in many capacities for several organizations including: ANSI-9 writing committee, American Red Cross Waterpark Program Review committee, American Red Cross Instructor Trainer and Instructor, WWA Safety Committee, WWA Board of Directors, WWA Board Chairman, International Code Council working group for swimming pool construction codes.

The World Waterpark Association Hall of Fame exists to recognize and honor those individuals who have made noteworthy achievements in the development and advancement of the water attraction industry. The WWA Hall of Fame celebrates those individuals who have reached a position of eminence through contributions that have provided outstanding service, innovation or advanced the WWA and/or the water attraction industry. The WWA has inducted 62 individuals into its Hall of Fame since its inception in 2000.
