Nocatee to host Relay for LifeBack to News
Nocatee will be the host site for the American Cancer Society's
Relay for Life this Saturday, June 11th. The event will raise money
and awareness for the American Cancer Society while bringing
together people from all walks of life to fight for a worthy
cause.
Relay for Life is a fundraising event in which teams of people
campout for 18 to 24 hours. It celebrates the strength of
those who are battling cancer and remembers others who have lost
their battle. The event will include available concessions, face
painting, crafts, and more.
The Relay will begin with a Survivors Lap that is dedicated to
those who have battled or are currently undergoing treatment for
cancer. As the sun sets, participants will take time to
remember those who have lost their lives to cancer with a Luminary
Ceremony. Each luminary will bear the name of a person affected by
cancer. Each team will have a team member walking or running laps
on the Relay course at all times; cancer never sleeps, neither do
the Relay participants.
The Nocatee Relay for Life will begin at Noon on Saturday and
continue through 6:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. The event will be
located on the field adjacent to the Nocatee Splash Water Park.
